Parejo: "This wasn't the VCF we've seen all season"
Valencia CF captain Dani Parejo was sent off early in the second half of the defeat to RCD Mallorca, but nevertheless spoke to the media after the game to express his displeasure with the result. The midfielder, who will miss the LaLiga game against FC Barcelona next weekend through suspension, gave an honest analysis of what occurred at Son Moix.
The sending off
"It's clear that my red card wasn't the defining moment of the game, but the images speak for themselves: For my first yellow card, I was the first to the ball and made contact with it. Even the opposition player was surprised that a foul was given against me. The goal came from that move. On the incident for the second yellow I touched the ball. It was strange enough that it would be given as a foul, but it's very dubious for that to be given as a second yellow."
The game itself
"We weren't the Valencia CF that we've seen this season, right from the opening minute. We didn't compete at the level we should and we weren't intense in terms of concentration and attitude. We have to be self critical and change the image we gave of ourselves as soon as possible. This wasn't the Valencia CF that we've been this season; we weren't able to compete and we have to look at it critically. There are many games remaining, a long way to go and we're in time to change, but we have to do it now. We apologise, because it wasn't a good game. It was a match in which we weren't up to the standard required of Valencia CF players."

The reasons behind the difficulties
"We didn't have a game fitting of players at a club like Valencia CF, and we have to apologise for that. In the first half we conceded a goal seven minutes in, and I think that it came from a lack of intensity and concentration. They scored their second from their next chance, then had another opportunity that Jaume saved, followed by another goal. We need to apologise and change the image we gave of ourselves, but overall we're not having a bad season."
Two defeats in a row, after the Supercopa loss
"They are different situations. Today we had a great opportunity to latch onto those at the top and move to within a point of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid, but we weren't able to take advantage of it. We hope to learn from our mistakes and win the upcoming games."
